Abstrakt

In this paper, an analytical comparison of entropy generation rate in a rectangular microchannel heat sink with alumina (Al2O3), carbon nanotube (CNT) nanoparticles, and water as base fluid is carried out. In this study, the volume fraction of nanoparticles is considered as 1% and 2%. Entropy generation analysis in terms of thermal entropy generation rate and fluid friction entropy generation rate for different nanofluids are evaluated using available correlations. Al2O3 nanofluid shows the lesser value of entropy generation compared to CNT nanofluid in a rectangular microchannel heat sink. Also with an increase of volume fraction, the entropy generation rate ratio increases for CNT nanofluid while a decrement is noted for Al2O3 nanofluid.
