DEVELOPMENT OF CONVECTIVE HEATING OPEN JET FACILITY USING CLUSTERED OXYGEN-ACETYLENE TORCHES
ABSTRAKT
In the present article, development of a convective heating open jet facility using 16-nozzle Oxygen-Acetylene torches is described. This facility is developed for thermal qualification of launch vehicle flight hardwares and thermal protection system materials. The nozzles are arranged in 4×4 matrix to carry testings of 150 mm×150 mm size panel specimens. Commercially available Oxygen and Acetylene cylinders are used. A customized hardware is designed with electronically controlled ignition system to operate the facility. Flow uniformity and buoyancy effects are characterized experimentally. Convective heating testings are carried out on several Inconel specimens and the measured temperature and heat flux measurements are presented. Proposal for further work is also discussed in brief.
