Abstrakt

Numerical simulations have been performed to study the flow pattern and vortex generation with an ensuing effect on heat transfer. The current study comprises of − effect of spacing between the cylinders; effect of the introduction of a different geometry into a homogeneous array of cylinders; effect of the pattern in which the geometries alternate, i.e. the effect of the upstream geometry on the flow pattern. A commercial solver (ANSYS FLUENT) has been used for this purpose. The study has been performed at Reynolds number 100.
