ABSTRAKT

Benchmark computations are reported of natural convection of air (Pr=0.71) for a range of Rayleigh numbers (105Ra ≤108), in a cubical cavity at three angles of inclination (φ = 0, 45, 90°), with two opposite walls at constant temperatures Tc and Th, and the four remaining walls having linear temperature variation from Th to Tc. The computations were performed using a finite volume transient method on a high-resolution non-uniform grid (823), with central differencing scheme (CDS) for the spatial, and an implicit three-level scheme (ITLS) for the time integration. The results are in good agreement with the reference experimental measurements.
