United States Ceramic Heat Exchanger Technology—Status and Opportunities

Abstrakt

Results of ceramic heat exchanger (HX) design and materials studies in the United States are reviewed, including industrial waste heat recovery and advanced energy conversion systems. Both compact cellular (honeycomb) and tube and header HX designs have been analyzed and tested. Silicon carbide ceramics are currently leading candidates for tube and header configurations, while cordierite-based ceramics have received major attention for cellular geometry.
