Droplet dynamics in sprays generated by four different twin-fluid atomizers
ABSTRAKT
The aim of this paper is to examine droplet motion with respect to the mechanism of the liquid breakup for several twin-fluid atomizers. Moreover, the influence of the primary breakup on the dynamic of the spray is discussed regarding velocity fluctuations and turbulence intensity. A phase Doppler analyser (PDA) was used to obtain time-dependent data of droplets in the spray. High-speed camera was used to evaluate a mechanism of the primary breakup. It was shown that there are demonstrable differences among droplet dynamics for each atomizer. Presented results also point on the interaction of the large droplets with air. Time-resolved data support the statement that small droplets are influenced by the vortexes generated by large ones when flow behind a droplet reaches a given Reynolds number.
