ABSTRAKT

The behavior of single and two-phase jets at inclined injection angles with an incoming crossflow is studied numerically and experimentally. The numerical study investigates the mixing characteristics of singlephase transverse round jets in a circular pipe for one velocity ratio (Vr = 5.3 = Vj/U) and three injection angles (α = - 45°, 0° and 45°). The two-phase flow experimental investigation considers gas injection in water flow. The same three injection angles are studied. Comparison for the single phase jets includes mean and instantaneous data on the scalar and velocity fields. The computations are performed with the SST-model. The two-phase flow study presents global (pressure drop and flow rates) and local measurements. The distribution of the gas phase is characterized through the Shadow Sizer Technique. This same technique is used to evaluate the velocity of bubbles.
