Abstrakt

A numerical simulation of a 2D laminar channel flow is performed to study the influence of square obstacles on the thermophoretic deposition of ultra-fine particles. Three obstacle geometries are tested in the channel; these consist of a single obstacle, inline obstacles, and staggered obstacles. The particles are treated via an Eulerian approach using the scalar transport equation. Results for Reynolds numbers of 375 and 500 will be shown, both at a Schmidt number of 5.0. For comparison, appropriate test cases are performed both with and without thermophoresis. Values for pressure drop, total wall heat flux, and total wall concentration flux are compared to evaluate the overall impact of each obstacle configuration.
