ABSTRAKT

Due to influences of increasing aviation to the environment, reduction of skin friction drag on aircraft is needed for improvement of fuel efficiency. We are now focusing renewed attention on riblet as a realizable flow control device. In this paper, we investigate the drag-reduction effect of sinusoidal riblets by DNS comparing with straight riblets' case. We confirmed that larger drag reduction is achieved with sinusoidal riblets than traditional straight riblets. However, as for vortical structure and turbulence statistics, no difference between straight and sinusoidal riblets are observed so far with present sinusoidal geometry setup.
