ABSTRAKT
We performed direct numerical simulations of turbulent flow in square and skewed ducts. A second-order- accurate finite-volume approach was used to discretize the Navier-Stokes equations in a curvilinear coordinate system. The mean secondary flow field was observed in all cases; in the skewed ducts, however, the strength of the secondary flow is weaker compared to that for the square duct. The flow in the sharper corners tend to relaminarize and the axis of the secondary flow shifts toward the corner with wider angle.
