ABSTRAKT

Water injection into Calandria vault is specified as one of the Severe Accident Management Guideline (SAMG) action for Pressurized Heavy Water Reactor (PHWR) to ensure the coolablity of Calandria under postulated accident scenario. The rewetting of Calandria under SAMG action needs to be ensured under full submergence as well as partial exposed situation. To study this aspect, an experiment is planned for studying the rewetting behavior of the flat plate at a constant input heat flux condition for Calandria top section under postulated severe accident condition. The flat plate resembles to the top exposed section of Calandria. A pre-test analysis has been carried to predict temperature transients under reflood condition. Effect of parameters such as surface temperature, wall heat flux and water injection flow rate on reflood heat transfer of a flat plate are studied.
