ABSTRAKT

Condenser of an automobile air conditioning system is generally subjected to maldistribution, implies deterioration of system performance. The present investigation consists assessment of fluid-flow properties of refrigerant under maldistribution. CFD models are developed for different types of blockages like middle, side, peripheral and uniform blockage, and no blockage condition. The model is developed based on multiphase modelwith volume of fluid (VOF) method in a commercial software Ansys Fluent. The results are depicted in contour of pressure, temperature and quality of refrigerant. The model is validated with experimental results which show a good agreement between both within ± 3%. In addition, other parameters like heat transfer coefficients, heat loss from the tubes and variation of refrigerant pressure and temperature along with quality are reported.
