ABSTRACT
This paper presents a novel antenna design that is capable of producing conical beam radiations in a wide frequency band. The feed design differs from the conventional broadside magneto-electric dipole antenna to provide high gain, wide impedance bandwidth and low cross
polarization in Ku-band. This type of antenna is suitable for applications including high speed vehicles like aircrafts and missiles. The proposed feed design in this paper shows a novel shape to impart conical beam radiation pattern with wide impedance bandwidth of 40.4% in the
frequency range of 13.4 GHz-20.2 GHz and high peak gain of 8.6 dBi. The antenna has also shown high antenna efficiency, low cross polarization level, low side lobe radiations and almost identical E plane and H plane radiation patterns in the given frequency range.
