ABSTRACT

This paper is an overview of Doppler - polarimetric methods and means for remote sensing of atmosphere used for detecting and predicting dangerous weather phenomena zones along the route of the airplane. In addition to such traditional phenomena as turbulence, hail, icing-inflight and thunderstorm, the approaches to distinguish areas of volcano dust is also included into consideration.
