Increasing the Efficiency of Error Correction by the Reed-Solomon Interference-Resistant Codes in Digital Telecommunication Channels

SINOPSIS

A modified Blahut procedure for decoding the Reed-Solomon codes, ensuring correction of errors beyond the half code distance, is analyzed. An architecture of the module for finding an error locator, using only one scheme of computation of an inverse element in the finite field, is proposed. Simulation modeling was used to study the energy gain from correction of the additional error symbol in the words of the Reed-Solomon code applied in modern telecommunication systems.
