METALLIC SHIELD INFLUENCE ON THE RESONANT LENGTH OF A WIRE ANTENNA
SINOPSIS
The method of induced electromotive forces and the uniform geometric diffraction theory are inthe base of the algorithm developed for calculation of the input impedance of the symmetricelectric dipole located above the infinitely thin rectangular metal shield. Resonant arm length of the half-wave dipole resonant at which the reactive partof its input resistance equals to zero, is determined as a function of the dipole thickness, dimensions and shape of the shield for differentdipole-to-shield distances and dipole orientation towards the shield. It is shown that the shieldpresence results in greater shortening of the dipole resonant length than in the case of the dipolein free space.
