A STUDY OF THE EFFECTS OF UNIFORM ENTRANCES ON THE BEHAVIOR OF A STRATIFIED FLOW OVER A BACKWARD-FACING STEP SOLVED BY THE INTEGRAL TRANSFORM TECHNIQUE

SINOPSIS

The generalized integral transform technique (GITT) is employed in the hybrid numerical-analytical solution of a modified stratified backward-facing step flow problem, which presents uniform profiles for the hydrodynamic and thermal boundary conditions at the entrance of the channel and an automatic global accuracy control toward a user-prescribed accuracy target. The present article is aimed at extending the available database of benchmark results in heat and fluid flow progressively obtained through integral transforms, for the covalidation of more flexible fully discrete approaches. Numerical results are presented for the same physical parameters of the situations frequently encountered in the literature and are compared with them.
