Assessment of Toxicity of Waters in Small Rivers of the City of Chernovtsy Polluted by Various Sources (Using Biotesting with Daphnia longispina O. F. Müller)

SINOPSIS

A comparative analysis of test reactions of Daphnia longispina Müll. to the water taken from small rivers near various pollution sources in the city of Chernovtsy has been performed. As demonstrative indicators were used the amount of parthenogenetic eggs, numbers of living and dead offsprings, number of dead females, number of females with abortive eggs, and amount of the latter. The most sensitive indicators for testing of river water toxicity were selected and by means of these; the most dangerous pollution sources were determined.
