SINOPSIS
It has been found that the water soluble substances of the rhizome of Nuphar lutea (L.) Smith essentially influence the growth of plankton algae, and also their photosynthetic and nitrate reductase activity. As a consequence, the indices of water quality, and also the structure of phytoplankton communities, significantly change. In this case, the quantitative indices of plankton algae development, primary of Cyanophyta, and their species diversity decrease.
