SINOPSIS
In the cooling pond of the Berezovskaya Power Plant additional inoculation of shrimps Macrobrachium nipponense (De Haan) into the earth ponds in spring provided increase of their biomass more than trice in 100 days in polyculture with fishes. The specific numbers' growth rate over the season in the warm-water ponds amounted to 0.025-0.029 day-1. Size structure of shrimps' population in the ponds and off-take channel significantly differed. The productivity of M. nipponense in the warm-water earth pond of the temperate zone is comparable with productivity in the ponds in the natural habitats of this species — subtropics and tropics.
