SINOPSIS
Mollusk Ferrissia fragilis (Tryon) was found for the first time in the Dnieper river basin – in benthos samples, taken from the Kyiv reservoir in August 2013 and in July 2014. On the basis of our own survey and literature data we suggest that Ferrissia fragilis did not invade Eurasian fresh waters at the end of the 20th – beginning of the 21st century, but had inhabited water-bodies of this region long before. It is suggested to give F. fragilis the widespread species status.
