MIXED CONVECTION BOUNDARY-LAYER FLOW OVER A SEMI-INFINITE VERTICAL SURFACE IMPLANTED IN A PERMEABLE MEDIUM
SINOPSIS
The objective of the present paper is to use the combination of the differential transformation method (DTM) and the method of Pad approximation to revisit the problem in which the effect of boundary-layer approximation is assumed for the two-dimensional mixed convection model of fluid passing through a fixed, semi-infinite vertical surface of a fin implanted in a wet permeable medium. The temperature in addition to the constant temperature in the ambient fluid is set to vary as xλf, where xf is the distance between the leading edge of the plate and λ is a pre-assigned constant. In this paper, the solutions have been obtained for different values of λ and for different values of ε. It has been observed that for aiding flow (i.e., for ε > 0), there exist two solutions, e.g., the upper solutions and the lower solutions, for λ = 0.05. But, for the opposing flow (i.e., for ε < 0), the boundary layer breaks down in case the opposing flow is too large.
