Heat Transfer from a Horizontal Cylinder with Cavities under Water Pool Boiling Conditions

SINOPSIS

Heat transfer under water pool boiling conditions in the heat flux range up to 0.2 of the critical flux was studied for three types of tube surfaces with cavities with the trace diameters 1,2.2, and 3 mm. An increase in the heat flux was 2.5,2.37, and 2.37 times, respectively, in comparison with boiling on the smooth surface, which exceeded the corresponding cavity-induced increase in the heat transfer surfaces. The heat transfer coefficient averaged over the surface increased by 108%.
