Mathematical Modeling of Gas Flow Cooling by Liquid Drops in Co-Current Movement of Phases

SINOPSIS

In this work, a model is constructed for cooling gas flow by liquid drops in a hollow apparatus. Absorption of component A from a gas mixture in the drops is taken into account. Drops of the liquid distributed in the volume of the apparatus in regular intervals move in the same direction as the gas flow. Time-dependence of the temperature averaged over the drop volume is assumed known for the case when the temperature on the drop surface is constant. This dependence can be obtained from both analytical and numeral solution of an internal heat or mass transfer problem in a drop and experimentally. Heat and mass transfer in the gas phase is described by means of time-independent heat and mass transfer coefficients averaged over the drop surface. It is assumed that partial pressure of steam and the temperature on the interface are linearly related to each other.
