The Influence of the Electric Field on the Development of the Swirling Flame Velocity Field and Combustion Characteristics
SINOPSIS
The experimental study of the electric field effects on combustion dynamics and emission characteristics of non-premixed swirling flame with the recirculation is carried out, providing electric control of the flame velocity field, determining the mixing rates of the flame compounds downstream the flame reaction zone with strong electric effect on the flame structure and stability. The results demonstrate that the electric force, acting on the flame ions enhances the ion drift motion and promotes the field-enhanced axial and radial heat/mass transfer of the flame compounds in a field direction, resulting in the field effect on recirculation and mixing rates of the axial flow of volatiles with the air swirl, so producing the local variations of the flame temperature and composition of emissions.
