Influence of Curtain Jet Twisting on Heat Transfer and Resistance in Cooling of the End Surfaces of Interblade Channels
SINOPSIS
The results of the investigation of gas curtain formation on the end wall of the turbine grating, which is formed by twisted coolant jets injected through a row of holes in the protected wall at the grating inlet, are presented. Experimental verification of the promising models of injection on the end wall of a flat turbine grating confirmed an increase of curtain cooling efficiency by 1.2−2 times and propagation of the curtain to the areas of local overheating. The results of measurement of hydrodynamic losses in the grating in injection of twisted coolant jets are given. It is shown that use of twisted curtain jets does not lead to considerable change of gas-dynamic losses (not higher than 2%).
