Arc voltage fluctuations in a nitrogen plasma torch
SINOPSIS
Voltage fluctuations in a nitrogen arc plasma source are investigated for a large pressure range: 10 Pa to 105 Pa. A fast acquisition device coupled to a numerical fast Fourier transformation is used for the analysis. As a function of pressure different types of spectra are observed and commented. At low pressure a broad spectrum is obtained at low frequencies. One to three characteristic frequencies appear when the pressure is increased.
