SINOPSIS

An experimental study of the acoustic emission from a DC arc plasma torch is performed in order to bring to the fore the existence of a silent cone downstream from the plasma flow. This silent zone could result from the sound rays refraction due to the strong temperature gradients at the exit of the nozzle.
