EFFECTS OF EXHAUST LOCATION AND NUMBER ON THERMAL COMFORT PERFORMANCE UNDER STRATUM VENTILATION
SINOPSIS
The effects of air exhaust location and number on thermal comfort performances under stratum ventilation were simulated with CFD software. We studied a total of six cases, with a focus on breathing zone. It was found that stratum ventilation with exhausts located in the ceiling produced better breathing zone performance than with exhausts placed in the jamb wall. The number of exhausts had an obvious influence on thermal comfort and indoor air quality. When the exhaust was in the ceiling, the case with four exhausts performed best. Inversely, when the exhaust was in the jamb wall, stratum ventilation performance deteriorated as the number of exhausts increased. Thus, four exhausts in the ceiling is the better choice for stratum ventilation.
