EQUILIBRIUM EVAPORATION SPRAY MODELING FOR APPLICATION IN COOL FLAMES
SINOPSIS
The scope of this work is to predict the evaporation process for fuels that are widely available and may be used in a "cool flame evaporation" process. Two droplet evaporation models are compared and evaluated against existing experimental data for two test cases of single droplets evaporating in a convective environment. A simple geometry is considered and an in-house Eulerian-Lagrangian computational fluid dynamics code is implemented in order to simulate the full spray evolution. Results show that surface temperatures and droplet lifetime histories are in better agreement with the experimental data when the Abramzon and Sirignano droplet evaporation model is implemented in comparison to the Spalding droplet evaporation model.
