SINOPSIS

We analyzed the features of the amplitude-time characteristics of the spinal cord dorsal surface potentials (PDS) in adult male rats under experimental menopause. It has been found that the threshold for excitation and the latent period increased by 102.14% and 94.12%, respectively, in animals with experimental menopause. Under supramaximum stimulation of the L5 dorsal root, amplitudes of N1-, N2-, and N3-components increased by 10.14%, 11.82%, and 48.28%, respectively, P-wave increased by 31.58%, and duration of N3-component increased by 26.54% in the experimental group. Stimulation by paired pulses at time intervals from 2 to 3 ms resulted in a significant increase in Ni-component (P < 0.01), whereas at time interval from 6 to 30 ms, we observed the inhibition of N1-component of another PDS in the group of animals with experimental menopause. Thus, our results suggest the presence of differently directed changes in excitability of the posterior horn nervous structures of the spinal cord under estrogen deficiency.
