SINOPSIS

Functional recovery from a flexor tendon injury, particularly in the sheathed portion of the hand, has proven a formidable challenge throughout the history of hand surgery. This review examines the history of tendon injury concepts, the basic science principles that led to modern advances, and the current trends in acute flexor tendon injury management.
