Mechnikov University, Department of Hydrobiology and General Ecology SINOPSISIn the Red Sea near Hurghada city 289 species of microphytobenthos belonging to 98 genera, 51 families, 32 orders, 8 classes, and 4 divisions of algae were found. Among them, 100 species are new records for the algal flora of the Red Sea. Most of the revealed species (268 taxa) belong to diatoms; the rest are cyanophytes (15), dinoflagellates (5) and chrysophytes (1). Articles with similar content:
