Analysis of the influence of soil-climatic and phytocenotic factors on the spatial distribution of algae in soils of the Cis-Urals area (Russia)
SINOPSIS
Variations in the composition and structure of algal cenoses were studied using the method of direct gradient analysis. Under the influence of soil-climatic factors, the species diversity of algae decreases from north to south because of elimination of mesophilic species belonging to the orders Chlamydomonadales and Ulotrichales. In response to the influence of the phytocenotic factor, algal cenoses of the diffusion type occurring under the dense grass cover are replaced by epigeal algal cenoses occurring under the phytocenoses with the projective cover 70 % and below. As this takes place, the biomass of blue-green algae increases by a factor of thousands, whereas the biomass of Chlorophyta and Xanthophyta increases by a factor of four. The species differing in their selectivity to the influence of a particular class of factor gradients were distinguished.
