Antitumor substances from marine macroalgae of the Mediterranean basin

SINOPSIS

The paper surveys recent advances in research on antitumour substances obtained from Mediterranean macroalgae. The survey also focuses on marine algae, which have clinically proved to be an effective component of cytostatic substances. The total stock of macrophytes found in the Black Sea is sufficiently large to justify expanding antitumor substances research and manufacturing.
