T1 VELOCITY MEASUREMENTS OF DENSE DIESEL FUEL SPRAYS IN DENSE AIR JF Atomization and Sprays JO AAS YR 2004 FD 2004-12-01 VO 14 IS 6 OP 11 AB The measurement of velocities in dense sprays with standard methods (laser Doppler anemometry, LDA, or phase Doppler anemometry, PDA) is difficult because of the high particle number density. Therefore, a laser two-focus method was developed with a modified data evaluation algorithm using cross-correlation. This method allows us to measure velocities within the dense core of a spray near the nozzle exit as well as downstream of the spray injected into a pressurized chamber. The results of measurements both under quasi-steady injection conditions and using a commercial distributor pump are presented.
