T1 Silt Accumulation in Large Plain Reservoirs JF Hydrobiological Journal JO HYD YR 2019 FD 2019-01-25 VO 55 IS 1 SP 93 OP 102 K1 large plain reservoirs K1 bottom sediments K1 rate of silt accumulation K1 prediction AB The peculiarities and regularities of the formation, accumulation, and distribution of bottom sediments in large plain reservoirs of various types were analyzed on the basis of materials of long-term (1931-2015) investigations carried out in the Volga, Dnieper, Don, Kama, and Ob' reservoirs. Despite the fact that the studied reservoirs are closely similar in the conditions of their formation, they differ in their morphological, hydrological, and hydrodynamic indices, and also in their operation conditions. All these factors influence the process of the formation of bottom sediments in each reservoir. The formation of bottom sediments belongs to the main abiotic factors of the functioning of aquatic ecosystems. Modern statistically valid and projection indices of the spatial and temporal distribution of silts in large plain reservoirs were determined.
