AB Dictyota pinnatifida, a brown alga with very peculiar characters was collected from the Arabian Sea coast at Karachi, Pakistan during March 2009 and investigated for its morphology, anatomy and reproductive structures in detail. It was found to be flat, ribbon like, with anastomosingly dichotomous branches being inrolled or hook like, resembling Cycus megasporophyll, apex slightly obtuse or pointed, attached with stoloniferous holdfast. Anatomically, its medulla is polystromatic, throughout from apex to basal part except the margins, where there is a single medullary cell. This is the first taxonomic description and anatomical investigation of this species from the coast of Pakistan.
