The reaction proceeds through nitroaldol condensation, followed by a Michael-type addition. The effects of various parameters were studied. A catalyst with Mg-Al ratio of 3:1 was found to be the most active. Selectivity of 100% was obtained for the desired product. The catalyst could readily be recycled without much loss of activity. A kinetic model was developed based on the experimental data. PB Begell House LK https://www.dl.begellhouse.com/journals/74e300906b6eb358,1951e5dd64861c8c,50e0ef992203527b.html
