T1 Modern State of Zooplankton and Water Quality Assessment in the Selenga River JF Hydrobiological Journal JO HYD YR 2009 FD 2009-11-05 VO 45 IS 5 SP 3 OP 14 K1 the Selenga River K1 zooplankton K1 saprobity AB Characteristics of zooplankton of the Selenga River, including its reaches (Orkhoy, Mongol People Republic) and the delta of the river, are given on the basis of long-term (1987−2008) expeditions and stationary investigations. Data on the species composition, on seasonal dynamics of the quantitative indices of Rotifera and Crustacea development, saprobic index, and the index of species diversity are presented. It has been found that in the upper and middle reaches of the river the qualitative and quantitative composition of zooplankton remained almost unchanged as compared to the 1960s. Changes conditioned by the influence of anthropic load were observed only in the lower reaches of the river. Analysis of the obtained results on the study of phytoplankton suggests that the water of the Selenga River is slightly contaminated.
