Distributions of local heat transfer and heat transfer fluctuations on a sphere at different flow turbulence levels

SINOPSIS

Experimental results of heat transfer distributions on a sphere at different flow turbulence levels are presented. The average heat transfer coefficient on the sphere surface was found to be dependent on the turbulence level of the flow. This is a result of the change in flow structure near the sphere's surface. The distributions of local heat transfer and its fluctuations for different inflow turbulence levels have been analyzed. The tests reveal that the increase of inflow turbulence level has a dominant effect on the distribution of the local heat transfer coefficient and its turbulent fluctuations on the sphere's surface.
