SINOPSIS

This paper presents a statistical approach, known as mesoscopic Eulerian formalism [Février et al. J. Fluid Mech., 2005, vol. 533, pp. 1−46], which is extended in order to model a cloud of evaporating droplets interacting with a turbulent carrier flow. The "measurement" of mesoscopic particle velocity and temperature moments arises from a direct numerical simulation coupled with Lagrangian tracking for a non-isothermal droplet-laden turbulent jet. Results show the ability of this approach to model evaporating two-phase flows.
