FAST RADIATIVE MODEL FOR MODELING COUPLED HEAT TRANSFERS IN SOLID AND LIQUID SEMI-TRANSPARENT MATERIALS
SINOPSIS
This paper deals with radiative heat transfer coupled with conduction and convection in Glass forming process. The Radiative Transfer Equation (RTE) coupled with the heat transfer is often difficult to solve numerically. We propose to solve this problem easily using a method based on a modified PN method approximating the RTE with a finite set of moment equations. After mathematical simplification, we show that Radiation can be modeled through a single second-order governing equation that exhibits the same form as heat transfer equation. Thus, it can be implemented easily in commercial codes. Validation of this model with different 1D and 2D test cases (steady-state and transient regimes) is performed. Some results obtained for more difficult cases and more complex geometry as differentially heated cavity with a large range of optical thickness and L-Shaped domain are then presented. This model appears to be of a particular interest for modeling heat transfers involved in Glass bath or simulation of mould filling processing.
