RÉSUMÉ

Despite increased efforts in recent decades to bolster women’s participation in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), women continue to be underrepresented in various facets of these professional areas. The literature suggests that intervention programming for young women and girls can be helpful and even necessary in steering them toward academic and professional STEM pursuits later in life. The current study sought to explore the long-term impacts of a four-week residential program for young women entitled Calculate the Possibilities an analysis of the participants’ perceptions of the experience. This program, held at Midwestern University during the summer of 1996, was designed to bolster the career awareness and skill development of the participants in STEM. Both five and 10 years later, participants regarded the program positively and reported numerous impacts of the program in the areas of educational and career-related pursuits in STEM.
