RÉSUMÉ

The prospects for decreasing of accelerating voltage and power demand in diffraction radiation sources are considered. The starting current for the low-voltage diffraction radiation oscillator (DRO) is estimated. The design features of the optimized electrodynamical system and the results of experimental investigations of the output characteristics of the DRO in the 5-mm waveband, operating at the accelerating voltage 600-1000 V and the power demand being no more than 70 W, are presented.
