On Polarization Properties of Tweeks

RÉSUMÉ

The paper presents results of three-component measurements of "tweek"-atmospherics. Analysis of the frequency-and-time structure of tweeks has allowed identifying new properties of polarization, associated with the effect of the Earth's magnetic field. A polarizational non-reciprocity has been discovered for the tweeks propagating from East to West and from West to East. The direction of the magnetic field vector rotation in the tweek is shown to change in going from the Southern to the Northern hemisphere, following the change in sign of the vertical geomagnetic field component. The multimode records of tweeks are used to estimate the electron density and gradient of the electron concentration height profile in the lower ionosphere.
