Experimental Investigation of Electromagnetic Wave Scattering by Object with Finite Impedance

RÉSUMÉ

Results are presented of the experimental investigation of wave-beam diffraction by objects that are comparable with the wavelength. Scattered fields were studied of a number of objects located in the open-resonator space, such as wedges with various flare angles, half-plane with finite thickness, disk, and strip. In is shown that the shadow-space electromagnetic field is a superposition of space and surface scattered waves, the maximum intensity of the field being observed at a definite ratio of the object characteristic dimension to the wavelength. The validity is experimentally confirmed of the application of the edge waves conception to the calculation of a wave-beam diffraction by an axially symmetric object.
