RESONANCE INCREASE OF THE Q−FACTOR OF MAGNETIC-TYPE EIGENOSCILLATIONS IN AN OPEN RESONATOR WITH BALL-SHAPED DIELECTRIC INSERTION
RÉSUMÉ
Open resonators with spherical mirrors and various discontinuities are among the devices which have found a wide range of application in the microwave engineering. However, to the best author's knowledge there are no results presented in the scientific literature on investigating spectral characteristics in resonance wavelength range of open resonators with a ball-shaped dielectric insertion. The paper suggests a rigorous mathematical model of axiallysymmetric magnetic-type eigenoscillations in an open resonators with spherical mirrors and a ball-shaped dielectric insertion. Based on this model, the eigenfrequencies and Q−factors of eigenoscillations of the electrodynamic object under consideration are analyzed in dependence on its geometrical and constitutive parameters. The main result is detection and investigation of the effect of resonance decrease (increase) of the eigenoscillation Q−factor as the geometrical and constitutive parameters of the ball-shaped insertion are changed. Also, the nature of the resonance behavior of the eigenoscillation Q−factor is elucidated. The results of the study should be taken into account in the cases of both insertion of various irregularities in open resonators and reconstruction of amplitude field patterns by the probing body method.
