SCATTERING INDICATRIX OF THE SNOW CRYSTALS
RÉSUMÉ
Radar methods for study of clouds and precipitation are one of the most efficient methods of remote sensing of the atmosphere. The advantages of radar techniques are the abilities to quickly measure characteristics of precipitation over the large areas. In conditions of the turbulent medium the particles may be at a different angle relatively to the incident field. That is why an attempt to study the scattering indicatrix of snow crystals (dependence of the radar cross-section (RCS) on the incidence angle of the electromagnetic wave) was made in the paper, which allowed to evaluate the variability of RCS of snow crystals by variation of the elevation angle of the radar antenna. Two types of particles at various angles of observation were used for numerical simulation of the scattering properties of snow crystals. At that two azimuthal angles of incidence of electromagnetic field in a wide frequency range are considered in the paper.
