RÉSUMÉ

In the paper the development of short-range coherent-pulse radar in 8 mm waveband for detection of low-profile surface vessels against the background of sea clutter is described. The analysis of the operation conditions and the description of the solid-state coherent transceiver, antenna design and signal processing are given. The pulse power of the transceiver is 72 W, pulse length is 50 ns, noise Figure of the receiver is nothing more than 5 dB and half-power width of the azimuth antenna beam is 1.1°. The radar provides detection of inflatable motor boat at a distance 750 m and ski boat − up to 3 km.
